The Role:

The Director of Culinary at Soho Beach House Canouan is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing all culinary operations across our properties. This role involves creating and executing a strategic vision for the culinary department that aligns with Soho House’s standards of excellence and innovation. The Director of Culinary will lead a team of chefs and kitchen staff in operations, ensuring the highest quality of food and service. This role requires a deep understanding of luxury culinary experiences and a commitment to sustainability and local sourcing.

Main Duties:

  • Leadership and Strategy: Develop and implement culinary strategies that enhance guest experiences and align with Soho House’s brand values. Lead the culinary team to deliver exceptional dining experiences.
  • Menu Development: Create innovative menus that highlight local ingredients and culinary traditions, ensuring a balance of creativity and profitability.
  • Quality Control: Maintain the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene across all dining outlets. Conduct regular kitchen audits and implement improvements.
  • Budget Management: Oversee culinary budgets, control costs, and maximize profitability without compromising quality.
  • Training and Development: Mentor and train culinary staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Supplier Relations: Establish and maintain relationships with local suppliers to ensure the sourcing of fresh, high-quality ingredients.
  • Event Collaboration: Work closely with the events team to design and execute culinary offerings for special events and functions.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Promote sustainable practices within the culinary operations, including waste reduction, energy efficiency, and responsible sourcing.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of culinary experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within luxury hotels or high-end restaurants. Caribbean and remote location experience preferred.
  • Education: Culinary degree or equivalent professional training.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, inspire, and develop a diverse culinary team.
  • Creativity: Strong creative skills to design innovative and appealing menus.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Business Acumen: Strong financial management skills and the ability to develop and manage budgets.
  • Attention to Detail: Keen eye for detail in food presentation and kitchen operations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
