Job Role...

The Assistant Restaurant Manager is responsible for consistently providing members with friendly and professional service, consistency of execution in an attractive, well-maintained environment and ensuring 100%-member satisfaction. 

Must oversee the front of house floor team, ensuring that they abide by the policies and procedures of the restaurant/club space.  The Assistant Restaurant Manager will float during service time, touch tables, engage with members and providing operational support where necessary whilst liaising with the chef on duty.

Main Duties...

  • To execute opening and closing procedures, pre and post service duties.
  • To assist Restaurant Manager with pre-service briefings.
  • To monitor service to members in all areas of the restaurant/club.
  • Ensure floor team adhere to steps of service.
  • To communicate with Kitchen to update them of service issues (i.e., pace of service, PWK tables).
  • To review reservations and seating plan and react to any special requests or PWKs.
  • To be able to recognize PWKs.
  • To communicate with other managers to ensure that service runs smoothly.
  • To maintain sufficient supplies in during service, including linen, glassware, etc.
  • To work closely with Bar Manager and provide support where necessary.
  • To monitor floor team's appearance and act as necessary.
  • To ensure a Floor Manager is on the floor at all times
  • To deal with any member complaints and take necessary action or If required escalate to Restaurant Manager/AGM or Head of Membership.
  • To maintain budgeted labour costs and control overtime hours.
  • To maintain linen, laundry, and uniform controls.  Reduces usage whenever possible
  • To ensure there are no open checks in Micros, and all transactions are balanced and accounted for.
  • To ensure proper controls and systems are in place regarding food, beverage, costs, etc
  • To account for and approve all comps and discounts.
  • To implement strategies for continuous improvement in service.
  • To support with recruiting potential employees
  • To facilitate new starters onboarding and probation reviews.
  • To plan, assign and direct work that needs to be done.
  • To conduct performance appraisals on a regular basis as dictated by company standards.
  • To quiz employees on menu and service procedures and knowledge.
  • To support Restaurant Manager with work schedules.
  • To provide necessary training for all team members.
  • To maintain a high level of cleanliness in the restaurant/club space.
  • To supervise the team in the daily cleaning and to co-ordinate with Engineering on any maintenance issues.  

Experience Required...

  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in a similar capacity 
  • Detail oriented, process driven and ability to problem solve in high-volume and demanding fast-paced environments 
  • POS (or alternative), Open Table, Opera or other Hospitality driven technologies experience 
  • Passionate and influential leader who positively communicates cross-functionally and leads a team to drive efficient and effective best practices through service 
  • Passionate about food and beverages trends and best practices and local health & safety compliancy regulations 
  • Ability to manage personnel and meet / exceed financial targets 
  • Guest-oriented and service-minded as well as flexible and pro-active
