The Role..

Reporting to the Senior Textiles Designer, the Textiles Designer works closely with the Design and Product Development teams to support the delivery of Soho Home’s design strategy across rugs, cushions, upholstery fabrics, throws, and bedspreads. The role contributes to the creation of innovative, aspirational textile design for the Soho Home brand.

With direction and guidance from the Senior Textiles Designer, the Textiles Designer supports the design development of market-leading products within their categories, contributing to a high-performing and collaborative team culture, and assisting in the continued growth of Soho Home’s presence within the homeware and interiors market. You will demonstrate a strong foundation in design ideation, technical understanding, hand-painting and drawing skills, and attention to detail, supporting the effective execution of the design development strategy while maintaining the creative integrity and Soho Home design DNA.

Within the wider business, the Textiles Designer is expected to build strong working relationships with cross-functional peers, ensuring that design output supports business objectives and adds value through thoughtful, commercially aware, and aspirational product design.

Main Duties

  • Work closely with the Senior Textiles Designer and wider design team, taking clear creative direction to support the design development of seasonal collections across rugs, cushions, upholstery fabrics, throws, and bedspreads.
  • Play an active role in the end-to-end design development of products through the seasonal critical path, taking ownership of allocated styles and tasks within agreed timelines.
  • Support the Senior Textiles Designer in researching, collating, and presenting relevant creative and technical references to inform design development.
  • Contribute to the generation of new design ideas, concepts, materials, and techniques at the beginning of each season, supporting innovation and considered, market-relevant design thinking.
  • Adhere to the design and development calendars, ensuring key milestones and handovers are met.
  • Create and refine hand-painted and hand-drawn artworks for textile designs, ensuring creative integrity is maintained while aligning with the Soho Home design DNA.
  • Prepare and refine design files for external suppliers, including artwork digitisation and clean-up, colour separation, engineered placement, repeat tile creation, and considered recolouring where required.
  • Contribute to the design and development of all textile categories, ensuring products are thoughtfully designed, technically considered, and aligned with the Soho Home aesthetic and quality standards.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate design briefs for handover to the NPD team and external suppliers, clearly outlining product intent, techniques, composition and yarn specifications and requirements, colour palettes, and trim details.
  • Collaborate closely with the NPD team to ensure design briefs are executed to a high standard, maintaining a clear understanding of commercial considerations including cost, price, and margin.
  • Assist in the preparation of seasonal presentations, internal design reviews, and cross-functional meetings.
  • Maintain an awareness of competitor activity, industry trends, and relevant cultural references, feeding insights back into the design process.
  • Contribute positively to a collaborative, high-performing team culture, demonstrating professionalism, curiosity, and a proactive approach to supporting the wider business.

What We Are Looking For

  • 2–4 years’ experience in a Textiles Designer role within homewares, interiors, or fashion.
  • A strong foundation in product design and development, with an understanding of the full design-to-production process.
  • Excellent hand-painting and drawing skills, with the ability to translate original artwork into production-ready textile designs.
  • Fluent in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, with the ability to confidently produce clear, accurate design, artwork, and technical files for internal and supplier use.
  • Experience working with both printed and woven textiles; experience with embroidery and embellishment would be an advantage but not essential.
  • A strong interest in design, with an understanding of the Soho Home design DNA and the ability to create aspirational, commercially relevant products.
  • Confident in preparing design concepts, artwork, and technical brief packs suitable for supplier and factory use.
  • Experience working with mills and suppliers, with an appreciation of quality, cost, and commercial considerations.
  • Well-organised and methodical, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and clear communication with senior team members.
  • Naturally curious and design-led, with a problem-solving mindset and the confidence to question and improve existing processes where appropriate.
  • Collaborative and personable, with strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • Conscientious, proactive, and dependable, demonstrating initiative and foresight in supporting the wider design team.
  • An analytical and considered approach to design, balancing creativity with commercial awareness.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability as Soho Home continues to grow and expand into new markets.
