The role…

At Soho House, a Seasonal Busser plays a critical role in supporting the dining experience by maintaining clean, organized, and properly set dining areas while assisting servers, runners, bartenders, and management in delivering exceptional service. Bussers contribute to a seamless member and guest experience by anticipating operational needs, maintaining cleanliness standards, and ensuring tables are prepared efficiently throughout service.

A successful Busser thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates strong attention to detail, and remains professional, approachable, and team-oriented throughout the shift.

Seasonal Position: This role is expected to run from April through September.

Main Duties

  • Support the service team in delivering an exceptional member and guest experience in accordance with Soho House standards.
  • Follow established Steps of Service, including refilling water, clearing used dishes and glassware, resetting tables, replenishing table settings, and maintaining dining room presentation standards.
  • Clear, clean, sanitize, and reset tables promptly to support efficient table turnover and guest satisfaction.
  • Assist servers and runners by delivering water, bread service, condiments, and other guest requests as directed.
  • Anticipate operational needs by monitoring dining room activity and proactively supporting service flow.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining areas, service stations, server alleys, side stations, and storage areas throughout the shift.
  • Assist with opening, running, and closing side work duties, including stocking service items, polishing glassware, silverware, and plates, and replenishing supplies.
  • Support private events, member events, and special functions by preparing dining and service areas based on anticipated business levels.
  • Communicate guest concerns, spills, breakages, safety hazards, or service issues to management promptly.
  • Adhere to all health and safety standards, food safety requirements, allergy procedures, and Company policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with servers, runners, bartenders, kitchen teams, and management to ensure seamless service execution.
  • Maintain basic knowledge of food and beverage offerings to appropriately answer simple questions and direct guests to the appropriate team member when needed.
  • Attend required training sessions and demonstrate competency in all required Club School and operational training programs.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a restaurant, hotel, club, or hospitality environment preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to supporting team success.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Professional, hospitable, and approachable demeanor with members, guests, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Flexible schedule with availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Previous POS knowledge and TIPS certification preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to continuously stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to frequently use hands and fingers to grasp, hold, carry, reach, lift, and manipulate dishes, glassware, trays, and service equipment.
  • Must be able to regularly bend, stoop, twist, reach, crouch, kneel, squat, and climb as required to perform job duties.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and move up to 40 pounds without assistance and occasionally move heavier items with assistance.
  • Must be able to safely transport bus tubs, dish racks, glassware, tableside equipment, and service supplies throughout the property.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive motions and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work in varying temperatures, crowded dining rooms, outdoor service spaces, and other hospitality environments.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

In accordance with New York law, the salary range for this role if filled within New York is listed below. The range for the position in other geographies may vary based on market differences. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
Pay Range
$12$12 USD
