The Role..

The EU Accountant (based in our Milton Keynes hub) is responsible for upholding the financial rhythm of the region, ensuring every number, report and reconciliation is delivered with accuracy, pace and care. 

This role is hands‑on, detail‑driven and central to how we maintain clarity and consistency across our European Houses.

They take ownership of core Record‑to‑Report activity, safeguarding compliance, supporting smooth daily operations, and making sure our financial picture is always clear, timely and aligned with Soho House standards.

Key Responsibilities..

  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and adjustments for Soho House sites in the EU to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Coordinate and executing month-end and year-end close activities to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Raise and process Intercompany transactions.
  • Complete balance reconciliations & substantiations ready for Controller approval.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and promptly resolve discrepancies.
  • Manage fixed asset accounting.
  • Work closely with other departments (e.g., FP&A, Procurement) to ensure alignment of financial data and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with UK GAAP and local GAAP, other relevant accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies.
  • Support the R2R Lead in preparing financial statements and management reports.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to implement and optimize accounting systems and tools for improved efficiency.
  • Invest in continuous professional development (CPD) to enhance skills, performance and career.
  • Any additional duties as assigned by management.

Experience required..

  • 5+ years of experience in financial reporting or accounting, with exposure to group-level reporting.
  • Fully qualified ACCA, ACA, or CIMA.
  • Proven ownership of month/quarter/year-end close, reconciliations, and management/statutory reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Proficiency in financial systems and tools (Preference for Oracle or SAP).
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Prior experience in accounting or finance roles, with a focus on general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
